The Problem

Many seniors live on fixed incomes and often feel lonely or disconnected.

The Discovery

Then we discovered something simple
but powerful...handwritten letters.

The Impact

Seniors now write letters that bring connection, encouragement, and joy
to mailboxes everywhere.

The Problem

Handwritten Together began when we noticed a real challenge facing many seniors living on Social Security. They simply needed more income to help make ends meet, but the options available to them were limited.

At first, we explored starting a resale business where seniors could help sort and list items. Some of the seniors we worked with were already doing small reselling projects themselves, so it seemed like a great idea. We began purchasing Amazon pallets and even hosted a few pop-up events where seniors helped us process items.

But we quickly realized something important.

The Discovery

The work was physically demanding. Even though the seniors who helped us worked incredibly hard, the job itself was simply too difficult.

While sick with the flu one week, we found ourselves binge watching YouTube and came across a company that sent handwritten letters. In that moment, everything clicked.

Why couldn’t seniors do that?

Writing letters felt like something meaningful, personal, and much more accessible. Many seniors have stories, wisdom, encouragement, and life experiences worth sharing.

That moment sparked the idea for handwritten Together.

The Impact

Seniors write heartfelt letters that are mailed to others who would enjoy receiving something thoughtful in their mailbox. Many of the seniors are also involved in preparing the monthly mailings by helping assemble envelopes and insertables.

This gives them an opportunity to stay involved, contribute, and earn income in a way that is meaningful and manageable.

What started as a search for a way to help seniors earn extra money became something even more meaningful. A way to create connection, encouragement, and joy through handwritten words.
